Facing exams... Buckaroos!!!

Buckaroos is the local names for a cowboy. The word buckaroo is similar to “vaquero” in Spanish. In Spanish “Vaquero” is a shepherd of animals who possesses messes and cattle, traditionally he rides a horse, and often he carries out to the mess.

Buckaroo comes from the Arabic 'bakara' or ‘bakhara’ that also means heifer ‘or’ young cow, and is possible that it has been taken by the Spanish during the centuries of Islamic domination.
Originally the term was understood literally as ' boy who takes care of the cows ', but the modern sense has to see with the adult keepers of cattle of the American west of 1849.

I have some more tips for exam success:

- To do lists of concepts
- To do schemes
- To observe the drawings and graphs.
- To do comparative pictures
- To write down notes of everything the teacher says

When the moors ruled Europe

The Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex in Granada (very near us). It was originally constructed as a small fortress in 889 and then largely ignored until its ruins were renovated and rebuilt in the middle of 11th century. It was converted into a royal palace in 1333.

Alhambra's Islamic palaces, as we know them today, were built for the last Muslim emirs in Spain and the court of the Nasrid dynasty. After the conquest of Granada by the Reyes Católicos in 1492, some portions were used by Christian rulers.

Now the Alhambra is one of Spain's major tourist attractions, exhibiting the country's most significant and well known Islamic architecture, together with 16th-century and later Christian building and garden interventions.
Alhambra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I have visited the Alhambra two or three times, and I have liked it because it is very big and it has beautiful palaces.

Amazing living bridges in India

The living root bridges of Meghalaya are a form of tree shaping, which creates these suspension bridges, they are handmade from the aerial roots of living banyan fig trees.

These bridges can take 15 to 20 years for the surreal, strong web of tangled root bridges to connect the two banks of a river. Unlike traditional constructions, Meghalaya’s root bridges only grow stronger with time, never requiring major maintenance or rebuilding; the strongest root bridges are more than 100 years old. In the past 25 years, however, the practice of building these living bridges has been dying out. Rather than spending years creating living paths, builders today use steel rope and modern construction methods to bridge Meghalaya’s streams and rivers.

I think these bridges are good for the people who live there, because with the help of the nature they can cross the river without danger or go to a place where they can’t go without the help of these trees.

Smoking in Russia

I think smoking in public is dangerous for the person who walks near a smoker, because it might be harmful for his health, for example they can inhale the smoke of the cigarette of one smoker. The people that don’t want smoke, but they inhale the smoke re called “passive smokers”

Smoking in public is dangerous especially for the children, because a lot of people smoke in the parks and there, there are a lot of children playing with her friends and they can inhale the smoke too.

I agree with the laws of Putin, because this way people will be surer and there won’t be any passive smokers.

What is the Maginot Line?

This is the first time that I hear about the Maginot Line. The Maginot Line was a vast fortification that spread along the French and German border, but became a military liability when the Germans attacked France in the spring of 1940. This line is named Maginot Line because the Minister of War was Maginot, and he gave the financing for the construction of this line.  The construction of the Maginot Line started in 1922 and it was finished in 1936. In 1939 the line was elongated from Switzerland up to Luxembourg. The line didn’t avoid the defeat of France at the beginning of the Second World War in 1940, because the Germans surrounded the Maginot Line for through its western extremity.
